Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan opened to the public on March 18, 2020, following several COVID-19-related delays. After a little over a month of operations, Super Nintendo World and the rest of the park are closing as a precaution in response to a surge of COVID cases in Japan.
Rising infection rates in Tokyo and Osaka have led to a state of emergency being declared in both cities and the surrounding areas. Last week, Japan saw a seven-day average of more than 4500 new cases, which is the greatest number of cases the country has seen since mid-January.
As of April 25, Super Nintendo World and Universal Studios Japan are closed until further notice.
