Generally speaking, the months of June, July, and August are oftentimes the slowest when it comes to major new video game releases. The summer drought of new game releases leaves fans with little in the way of brand-new releases to play, as many companies like to withhold their biggest titles until fall to take advantage of the holiday shopping season. This mostly holds true when it comes to the new games releases June through August this year, but despite this, there has still been some critically-acclaimed new releases.
