Fans of nostalgia and classic retro arcade games will have been left delighted when they heard the news of a new Street Fighter title. Street Fighter 6 was released just a few short weeks ago and has already gone on to prove a hit with fans of the iconic Capcom franchise.
A total of 18 characters have been made playable, making it a game that can provide numerous hours of fun. However, like all fighting arcade-style games, some playable characters are better to use than others.
The top five characters in this game include:
So, what makes each of these the best characters to play with?
The most popular character to have ever appeared in the Street Fighter series, Ken remains one of the best to use when playing. He has been upgraded in terms of his skillset from other games, as he is more powerful than ever, especially when up close and personal with other characters. His special moves are very powerful, too.
If you want to play with a character who can be dominant, Luke is the best option. He is far from complex, but he can deal a lot of damage with his attacking ability, as he is exceptionally strong. In fact, he is so strong you could land a couple of combinations on your opponent, and before you know it, you have won the round!
Guile has been one of the most difficult characters to play against, thus making him one of the best to play with. He has a number of devastating combos that can deal huge amounts of damage to players, while he can appear to have a number of moves that can help limit the damage caused to him by opponents, too!
Cammy is one of the strongest female characters in the game and appears to be only getting stronger. She is fast and has a skillset that makes her a tricky customer when in combat. If you can get close to your opponent playing as Cammy, then you have a very good chance of winning as she can make life very difficult. Her special attack makes it very difficult to know what to do against her, too.
Perhaps one of the hardest characters to play with, Juri can also be one of the best if you can handle her. She has a lighting-fast moveset which can be exceptional for defeating others, although it is recommended that you are an experienced player when using her.
Street Fighter continues to build on its popularity
The Street Fighter series has always been one of the most popular gaming franchises around, ever since it was first released. There have been various forms of merchandise to have been created and sold based on the arcade game, while there have even been casino slots such as the Street Fighter™ II: The World Warrior Slot, which has proven popular with players.
Since it was first released in 1987 – some 36 years ago – the franchise has gone on to achieve global success on a scale that no other has been able to achieve. More than 50 million units have been sold worldwide, while the game has managed to gross more than $12.2 billion in sales.
Could Street Fighter continue to grow in popularity?
With new generations of gamers coming through all the time and being exposed to classics and enjoying retro-inducing titles, there is every chance that the Street Fighter gaming series can continue to increase in popularity.
With the exceptional characters available to play on the latest instalment, Street Fighter 6 could potentially end up being another successful release for Capcom. If it is, they could then continue to release new titles, which could perhaps include newer characters or give those available at the moment upgrades to make them even better.
Although Ken, Luke, Guile, Cammy, and Juri can be considered the five best, the likes of JP, Manon, Zangief, Dee Jay, and Blanka could perhaps challenge them for a spot in that top tier, while Jamie, Ryu, and the many others available to play with could simply get better with time, too.
